Question:
I am wondering if anyone knows what the effects of chemical exposure to the body would be to the person who was addicted to cooking Meth as well as doing it. I am not proud to say that I spent many years' day in and day out messing with chemicals that are hazardous to my health. Hopefully without saying you will know what these chemicals are. Do you know if any, what the effects are, and are they different than ingesting the finished product? I feel that the "cooking" part of this demon is either understudied or left out as a part of recovery. I am desperate to find out the answer to this question, and if it is unknown then hopefully someone will start a study.
Answer:
Most of the research that's been done is associated to the children who have had exposure to dangerous and toxic chemicals that are used in cooking meth. What they have found is that exposure to these chemicals can lead to severe liver damage, respiratory problems, lead poisoning, and different forms of cancer. A lot has to do with the specific chemicals used in the meth cooking process. There are many different meth recipes used when producing meth so the dangerous effects could vary due to the chemicals involved. The only other way to know would be to would be to have your hair analyzed to see what chemicals you were exposed to. If you know which chemicals are of concern you can look them up on the link below.
